How do I use the data tool to unearth insights?

You are able to dig into the data directly, manipulating the datasets with our interactive data tool. This allows you to filter down to what you’re most interested in. We have created a helpful video to walk you through the data tool.

Can I speak to the young people interviewed for the report?

Unfortunately, all the young people we contacted were engaged on the basis that they would remain anonymous, so we can’t connect you with them directly.

Am I able to use the statistics or quote sections from the report in my own content?

Please do! We want the Index to be useful to the work of others in this critical area. Review our Citation Guidelines to understand how best to reference the Index data when publishing materials or when using our statistics.

When will the Index next be updated?

The surveys and interviews are conducted annually and published in the second half of each calendar year. The Index launched in 2021 and so longer-term insights will build up over the years that follow. Each year, we will ask a set of consistent questions as well as adding time-specific questions to understand the impact of current events on the digital lives of young people. Our 2022 report launched in October 2022 and 2023 report launched on the 20th November.
